The Stranger

imageToday we had a morning in the 3D workshop and got taught the health and safety of all the equipment such as

making sure fingers are not any where near the blade or sand band

Also using glasses when necessary

using the extractor fan for excess dust

long hair tied back

appropriate foot wear

and how to get the best out of everything. This has made me think about the different aspects of my current project and might want to use them in the final design. i really enjoyed the laser sketch as i can 100% see myself using that in the future for different reasons.

This afternoon we got split into our workshop groups and i went to the dark room to do negative photo work. Dave started of by giving us a recap of the health and safety. Then we got taught about how to use the aesile and enlarger together. We then moved onto using test strips this is a good way of seeing the amount of contrast in the print and getting the right amount of exposure. The changes in appeture are also very importtant Dave said that f8 is the most afficient , gets the depth of field. Higher the number the lower the contrast will be. Another point was when the we had to dry the prints you need to make sure the surface isn’t tacky so it needs to be very dry.

I really feel i enjoyed this process as i liked the way the prints turned out i also liked even the drafts as the imperfections i feel add a certain something to the print.
